It's 6:00 in the morning and I've been awake since 4. I'm supposed to get up in 1 hour to get ready to head to Pittsburgh for a great conference. I've been looking forward to this since last year. This conference is wonderful and I'm going with two amazing ladies. Everything, including the weather was looking good.
Until Tuesday night. I suddenly became super sick. Tim called my work on Wednesday (which I am super thankful for, because being my stubborn self I was attempting to go, when I could barely stand). It started with a sore throat. Within one day time, I had sore throat, chills, 102 fever, cough, and was absolutely MISERABLE. However, I did manage to sleep over 24 hours in 36 hours time. That was pretty nice. I had to call out on Thursday, and I went in to the doctor, with little voice (it fades in and out). Apparently, I have a bunch of fluid in my ears in addition.
So, what have I decided? My body is revolting against me. Mucinex D does NOT make me stop coughing, it actually keeps me up all night coughing, worse than before. My old doctors were amazing at clearing this stuff up (meaning my new doctor stinks). Tim is a great take care of you person - he got my every whim of GingerAle and Gatorade and was stubborn in making me stay home from work, which I needed.
Meanwhile, I'm continuing to lose weight. : ) My journey continues....13 days to go to see the progress I've made.

Physical Therapy
Another adventure begins..........
For two months now my lower back has been bothering me. It's been swollen and causing a lot of pain. Starting this week, I have a new wonderful symptom....tingling down my leg, foot, and into my toes.
I was told I had: paraspinal muscle spasms, slip disk, sacroillitis, and a lumbar strain. No, I don't have all of those. X-rays showed nothing. Muscle relaxers helped little. Steroids have helped reduce some swelling but have made me unbelievably HUNGRY and zombie-ish.
But finally, someone has an idea of what they are talking about. I met with a physical therapist this morning. Apparently, (we don't know which started first) but I have a back strain/problem with my piriformis muscle (I had to look up what muscle that was). That muscle is spasming and causing my nerve to be compressed and cause the tingling down my leg. It was hard to figure out whether or not the back pain caused the muscle spasms or the muscle spasms are causing the back pain. I am walking with a limp now.
However, after an ultrasound to heat the area and break up the toxins in the area and get blood flowing, and a massage of the area, I'm definately a little sore. I'm pretty much in some sort of constant pain, have constant tingling, and can't sit in one position for very long. I'll be doing PT a couple times a week, and go back to the specialist in two weeks to check in. Hopefully, it gets better.
After all of this though, all I could think was, "I'm too much like my mom."

Oh, it'll be different.
I don't know why people always say, "oh, when you have kids, it'll be different." That statement will not excuse all behaviors, actions, smells, and so on.
I was having a conversation with someone the other day. She is a nursing major and was telling me stories to pass the time. She was talking about blood and paused to see if I was okay with it. I assured her, I was. Blood doesn't really bother me. I don't know why, it just doesn't.
However, she was telling me about a this patient who was REALLY large. Without grossing you out, we were talking about some very gross sounding things that occur with sick patients. I told her I was so not okay with things like that: ie throw up.
She laughed and said, "oh, when you have kids, it'll be different." I shook my head and said, "nope." She looked and me and I said, "I don't think becoming a mother will help my nose stop attaining the awful smell nor will it change my stomach's ability to properly keep food down myself as a result of the smell."
She looked at me with her mouth dropped open. I smiled, continued to work, and laughed to myself.

After a day like today - I have fully acknowledged that whenever years down the road that I have children - I will be the worst mother when they are sick. I can't do it.
The sight. The smell. The sound.
I can't handle it.
Proof in point, I was trying to get the bag full of nastiness out of a can today. Thankfully, MY MOTHER, has a tolerance to vomit. I ran gagging to the sink while she took care of it. Then, trying to clean up something later, I ran dry heaving to the sink again, ran outside for air. Finally, with a guard over my nose, my eyes, and holding my breath - I took care of it. And then gagged.
I am not cutout for sick people.

Too Much Too Quick
Taryn said I was the world's worst blogger. She is right. I probably am. But, too much has happened too quickly. Let's recap:
Beginning September:
Was very very sick. Did not know what was going on but I had no appetite, I was sick all the time. I could only eat crackers and Special K Cereal Bars. I lost a lot of weight. That's when we realized I've lost 15.5 pounds since the end of January & 7.5 since May. After medicine and experimenting - the doctor told me I am lactose intolerant. No more milk or ice cream for me. I hate the soy stuff. Lactose free is okay. I have to take calcium supplements or stuff like that. I've sinced quit losing weight and am maintaining a normal one.
September 26th:
I was in a car accident at a wet exit as I was getting off the interstate. I hydroplaned, lost complete control of the car, started fishtailing, and went off the exit into a deep ditch with rocks. I was okay - just sore and stiff from whiplash. However, this was the only car that Tim and I had. I landed on several rocks & they had to tow it out. Oh yes, on top of this, I got a ticket for "failing to recognize such a move could be made in safety."
The following 2-3 weeks:
We fought with insurance as they told us the car was a "total loss" because of COSMETIC damage. The mechanic said it was perfectly safe, no hesitation. Needless to say, our crappy insurance people made us lose our car. We were without a car for 10 days before they offered us a rental - and then they only gave it to us for 3 days. Luckily, Mom and Dad let us borrow their car. They were carpooling so we could have one to get around in.
Beginning - Mid October:
I work 6am to 12 noon every day. I then have night classes every night. A week and a half of very little sleep and lack of energy for homework.
October 11:
We get up at 6:30am and start looking for cars. Finally at 4:00pm we find one and buy it. We ended up getting a 2003 Ford Taurus. We can't pick it up until the 13th.
October 14, oh wait, that's today:
I get a call from Tim's cell phone with someone from his work saying, "Tim passed out, fell, hit his head, and the ambulence is about to take him to the hospital." Needless to say, I'm freaked out & thankfully my dad meets me at the hospital. Tim's blood pressure when they first measured it was 68/28. Oh yes, and he was so cold his lips & fingers were blue. Finally, after two bags of fluid later, it went back to normal. We were able to leave the hospital with a very weak and cold Tim. It took a long time to get him to our apartment, thankfully my dad was there to make sure Tim didn't fall or to catch him if he did. He's here, resting, and I'm forcing fluids down him. They said his blood work was fine, but apparently he was severely dehydrated.
So yes, I'm a horrible blogger. But life, is a little rough right now, with way too much happening way too quick. God has been faithful to this point, so I'm still hanging on.....I'll try and blog more when I can breathe.
Love.

A summary of life:
I've been sick really pretty bad for four days - it's been really weird too. I finally went to the doctor. I'm being put on medicine for IBS for five days to see if it helps. I have to go back to talk to the doctor in two weeks. If it doesn't clear up, or if it comes back - then I have to talk to stomach/colon doctors to find out what's going on. They suggested also that I might be tested for a gluten intolerance/chron's disease. Let's hope this medicine works though.
Good news about though, I only pay $10 for prescriptions & nothing for doctor visits! Hooray! I am glad I have this insurance.
Tim has a new job. He starts tomorrow. It's still a filler, but better than the last one. We're excited. He's working at a restaurant - Taryn, feel free to give some tips on how to make better tips!
Classes are good - I'm way ahead in a couple of them, but that's good I guess. Hmm, not much else going on. I guess that's good though.
